decluttered mind

20141202_175545722_iOS

when the rain comes,
will you be ready?

silent night thoughts
unravel,
make their way
to the surface
of conscious waters
like a floating rock
in the sea

cigar smoke,
the sound of crickets,
the day is done,
accomplish, unaccomplished

and the impending rain
catches us all unaware

Reblogged this on A Day in the Brine and commented:
A rain-sluiced poem by pensive poet Thome. Enjoy!

Exquisite. I was especially struck by the last two lines…so potent with feeling, so striking with the force of a quiet and doleful, and perhaps rather liberating, Reality. Beautiful poem. Loved the photo as well. It congeals so well with these pensive words. Wonderful. Best wishes,

Beautiful words…so poignant and full of symbolic hints and how well you managed to portray the poem.
